Her oratorio highlights include solos in Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Duruflé’s Requiem, Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Handel’s Israel in Egypt. Melissa’s recital experience encompasses a diverse repertoire, from singing Britten’s A Charm of Lullabies at Wigmore Hall to performing Jonathan Dove’s works in front of the composer himself at Blackheath Halls.
A respected ensemble singer, she performs with many of the leading ensembles in the UK, including the BBC Singers, and is a valued regular member of the choir at The Royal Military Chapel (The Guards’ Chapel).
Her operatic credits include Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Le Prince Charmant (Cendrillon), Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte), and La Zelatrice (Suor Angelica). Notably passionate about contemporary music, Melissa has performed named roles in several contemporary operas including Ana Sokolović's Svadba, Thea Musgrave's A Christmas Carol, and Tom Smail's Blue Electric. Her passion for new music was further explored during her time at Trinity Laban, where she performed unaccompanied contemporary song repertoire and created musical improvisations on dramatic texts in recitals.
Melissa completed her undergraduate degree in Music at King’s College London, where she was a choral scholar in the chapel choir and benefitted from singing lessons at the Royal Academy of Music. She has also participated in masterclasses with esteemed musicians including Susan Bullock, Joan Rodgers and Sophie Daneman.
In addition to her performing career, Melissa is a singing teacher at Wycombe Abbey and Godolphin and Latymer schools, and maintains a private studio in Amersham.
